The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a full-time Specialist in Cooperative Extension (CE) in the area of Quantitative Policy Analysis expected to begin July 1, 2018.

We seek candidates who would develop a research and extension program in economic policy analysis at the regional level and statewide within the broadly defined areas of agricultural economics, natural resources, land use, regional development and environmental sustainability.

Extension: The research output of this specialist would provide a resource for county advisors and local government officials addressing stakeholders’ questions regarding the local impacts of proposed and implemented policies, including policies regarding land use changes.

Research: The specialist would be expected to develop and implement economic models of California’s agricultural and natural resource sectors for the purpose of conducting economic evaluation of public policies and other changes.

Qualifications: Applicants must have completed all degree requirements for the Ph.D. or equivalent degree with the exception of dissertation at the time of application. The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree (or relevant terminal degree) in applied economics, agricultural and resource economics, or public policy, by the appointment start date. The candidate should be able to work productively with diverse communities and stakeholders, and to build cross-disciplinary teams. Salary is commensurate with experience.

The Specialist will be expected to develop a nationally competitive research program and to obtain extramural grant funds.
