West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Economics and Finance is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Economics with a concentration in Environmental/Ecological Economics or Agricultural/Natural Resource Economics. The position will start in August 2018. Salary is dependent upon qualifications.
Primary responsibilities:
Teaching: Applicants must be qualified to teach undergraduate and MBA courses, including principles and intermediate level courses in economics, business statistics, and upper-level electives. This may include development of elective courses in their area of expertise. Teaching assignments will include opportunities for teaching at off-campus sites and/or through distance learning. Faculty are required to maintain office hours.
Research: Conduct scholarly research at an appropriate level for an AACSB accredited School of Business that also is consistent with WCU's scholarly academic standards. Faculty are expected to present research results at professional meetings and publish in refereed journals.
Service: Contribute to the university community and the department by serving on committees, helping to recruit students, and performing other services as needed. Serve as an advisor to economics and finance majors regarding academic planning and scheduling.
Requirements: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in economics or be ABD with completion expected by August 2018. Applicants must have a concentration in Environmental/Ecological or Agricultural/Natural Resource Economics, as evidenced by their dissertation topic(s) and/or published research. Candidates who earned a Ph.D. more than 3 years ago must have scholarship consistent with West Chester University’s scholarly academic standards, including recent refereed journal articles. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is required, along with a record of scholarship or demonstrated research capability. Finalists must successfully complete an interview process and provide a teaching demonstration.
Preference will be given to completed applications received by November 22. Initial interviews will be conducted at the ASSA/AEA meetings in Philadelphia in January 2018.
