The Central Bank of Chile is looking to fill up to two Economist/Senior Economist positions in its Modelling Department.
Economists at the Modelling Department conduct high-quality applied research to guide the economic policy process taken by the Central Bank. Economists are expected to publish this research in academic journals and present it at international conferences. Economists should also contribute to the Bank by identifying relevant policy issues, writing policy notes, and briefing the Board in topics of her/his expertise.
The Modelling Department is part of the broader Modelling and Economic Analysis unit, under the Economic Research Division. This unit employs approximately 10 PhD economists graduated from U.S. and European universities, as well as Master-level research assistants who collaborate with the research projects and macroeconomic analysis.
Applicants should have a PhD in Economics or equivalent degree, or expect to receive it, by September 2018. Experienced PhD economists are also encouraged to apply at the Senior Economist level. Areas of interest should be preferably in monetary policy, international macroeconomics and finance, labor economics, and macroeconometrics. Candidates with experience in structural macroeconomic modelling are especially encouraged to apply.
