The College of Agriculture’s Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology at Auburn University is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor with a primary focus on Consumer and Food Economics. The successful junior candidate will demonstrate the potential to develop a nationally recognized research and teaching program that addresses the economics of consumer behavior and food marketing across the food system, as well as the potential to earn external funding. Successful senior (associate) candidates will already have an established record of high-impact applied research, experience with working in multi-disciplinary teams, excellent teaching credentials and success in obtaining external funding. The areas of research and teaching may include (but are not limited to) behavioral economics, consumer acceptance of food innovations, sustainability, food security, food safety, marketing, and food policy. The successful candidate will be able to work in multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems associated with existing and emerging issues related to traditional and alternative food systems and markets. The successful candidate will work with a wide range of stakeholders in the state and beyond in applied research to help understand factors to enhance food marketing and efficient traditional and alternative food systems. The expected start date is August 16, 2018.
