The Brookings Institution is a nonpartisan think tank based in Washington, D.C. Its mission is to conduct in-depth research that leads to new ideas for solving problems facing society at the local, national, and global levels. The Economic Studies program analyzes current and emerging economic issues facing the United States and the world, focusing on ideas to achieve broad-based economic growth, a strong labor market, sound fiscal and monetary policy, and economic opportunity and social mobility.
Position Summary:
The Vice President and Director, Economic Studies (Vice President) directs and oversees the program’s economic research and impact, financial sustainability, human resources, fundraising, communications, and operations. The Vice President is also a Senior Fellow who conducts high quality, independent public policy research. The position reports to the President, John Allen, and is a member of the Institutions leadership team. The VP will lead a team of 75 staff members and oversee a budget of approximately $20 million. Qualifications and Experience:
• PhD in economics or a related field strongly preferred
• 15+ years of professional experience in public policy
• Previous experience in academia, federal government, or think tanks
