Assistant Professor, Food, Health, and Agricultural Policy
Starting date: August 2019 or as negotiated. Responsibilities: This is a nine-month, tenure-track position in agricultural economics and agribusiness with a 65% research and 35% teaching responsibility. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a nationally and internationally recognized research program focused on policy issues related to food and health. Pertinent research topics may include economic analysis of policies related to food and nutrition assistance programs, obesity and other health issues, food safety and quality, food labeling, food-health-environment interactions, food security, domestic and cross-border food supply chains, and related areas. The successful applicant will be expected to secure external funding. Teaching expectations will be three courses per year, including at least two undergraduate courses in agribusiness management. The successful candidate is expected to mentor graduate students. Qualifications: A Ph.D. in applied or general economics, or a related field, is required. The successful candidate must have completed all degree requirements by the appointment date. Applicants should demonstrate excellent quantitative and communication skills and the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams. An ability to engage professionally with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students is required. Salary: Competitive, commensurate with background and experience.
