The Department of Economics at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa seeks to fill a faculty position in agricultural economics and/or environmental and resource economics at the rank of Associate or Full Professor (tenure-track or tenured). The successful applicant’s research program will address key issues in Agricultural Economics and/or Environmental and Resource Economics, with emphasis on problems important to Iowa State’s mission as a land-grant university.

In Agricultural Economics, possible areas of interest include but are not limited to: commodity markets; risk management; contracting, vertical integration, and the industrial organization of agricultural markets; innovation, new technologies, and production agriculture; welfare analysis of agricultural policies. In Environmental and Resource Economics, possible areas of interest include but are not limited to: environmental aspects of agricultural production, water quality, bio-renewable energy, intertemporal models and dynamic resource management, global climate change, and sustainability.

The successful candidate will be expected to publish regularly in top scholarly outlets, teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate student research, and seek external grant and contract funding.

Appointments at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure presume evidence of excellence in scholarship that establishes the individual as a significant contributor to the field or profession, with potential for national distinction. Appointments at the rank of Professor presume national distinction in scholarship, as evident in the candidate's wide recognition and outstanding contributions to the field or profession.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated excellence in scholarship in the areas of the position description
• Demonstrated record of research accomplishments
• Demonstrated record of teaching excellence
• Demonstrated success in graduate student supervision
• Demonstrated success in attracting competitive external funding
