Wichita State University seeks to fill two or more tenure-track or tenured positions in the newly created Institute for the Study of Economic Growth, housed in W. Frank Barton School of Business. The mission of the Institute is to be a world class research center for the exploration of market and enterprise systems that have the greatest impact on the economic prosperity of society. The Institute seeks to advance the teaching, research and application of innovation and entrepreneurial activities in a free enterprise economy to enhance societal prosperity through economic growth. Towards this end, faculty members will actively promote and support research and teaching in these areas. Faculty members may also be asked to assist in business and community outreach activities related to the Institute’s mission.
Based on the successful candidate’s qualifications, each position will be a tenured or tenure-track position in the economics, management, or finance department, based on area of specialization. The successful candidate is expected to produce ongoing scholarly or applied research in areas relevant to the Institute’s mission, have teaching responsibilities in the relevant academic department (the willingness to teach online is a plus), and have a substantial presence on campus. The Institute plans also include hiring student research fellows and assistants.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD or equivalent in economics, entrepreneurship, finance, or related field
Demonstrated record of scholarly or applied research in markets, enterprise systems, policy or economic growth
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience serving in a similar capacity at an institute or center
Experience in business or community outreach activities is a plus
