The Behavior and Inequality Research Institute (briq) invites applications for several positions as Postdoctoral Fellow in Behavioral Economics/Economics of Inequality at the earliest possible date for up to two years with the possibility of an extension. The working location is Bonn, Germany.

The appointment process will place emphasis on top-level research and scholarship. Candidates are expected to have a strong background in economic theory and/or expertise in empirical research. The goal of the appointment is to provide experiences that will help them launch a successful academic career. The position does not include teaching responsibilities.

briq was founded in 2016 and is headed by Professor Armin Falk. The institute is closely connected to the economics department of the University of Bonn. The research focuses on understanding individual decision-making and behavior, as well as the causes and consequences of inequality. Areas of research include the foundation of decision-making, behavioral applications in the fields of public and labor economics, and the malleability of moral behavior. A particularly important research interest is early childhood development and the formation of socio-emotional and cognitive skills. The institute aims to enable outstanding research by offering administrative and financial support, e.g., for running large-scale randomized control trials. Moreover, briq provides a platform for top-level researchers in behavioral economics and inequality by running a visitors program, workshops, conferences and summer schools. All of these will offer ample opportunities for interdisciplinary international cooperation to successful candidates. briq is an equal opportunity employer.
