Applications are invited for Assistant Professor in Economics in the School of Economic Sciences (SES) with a primary field in Agricultural and Applied Economics and demonstrated ability to apply quantitative methods. This 9-month, permanent, full-time tenure-track faculty position begins August 16, 2020, or as negotiated, at the main campus in Pullman.
Responsibilities include publishing high quality peer-reviewed research in agricultural and applied economics, developing competitive extramural funding to support research activities, teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate level, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and participating as appropriate in committees and other service in SES, CAHNRS, and WSU. The successful candidate will develop internationally-recognized economics research programs in agricultural and applied economics with some focus on application of quantitative methods. The successful applicant will identify research priorities, seek funding to support research, conduct collaborative projects, and disseminate results by publishing in appropriate peer-reviewed journals. Teaching responsibilities include courses as needed by the School in the successful applicant’s area of expertise.
Required: PhD in agricultural and applied economics or economics or closely related field by date of hire, and specialization in Agricultural and Applied Economics. Preferred: Evidence of strong training in economic theory and applicable quantitative methods; evidence of excellent communication skills, written and verbal; demonstrated ability to develop and implement a nationally recognized research program leading to scholarly publications in agricultural and applied economics; demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues, including collaborative research in agricultural and applied economics or related fields; demonstrated ability to work with a variety of audiences, including persons of diverse cultures and backgrounds; demonstrated ability to obtain competitive extramural funding commensurate with career stage; and demonstrated ability to teach effectively at graduate and undergraduate levels.
