The Population Studies Center in the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan invites applications for a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship. The post-doctoral scholar will collaborate with investigators working on the Longitudinal, Intergenerational Family Electronic Microdata (LIFE-M) project. LIFE-M studies four generations of U.S. families linked using vital records combined with census information. Funded by the NSF and NIH, this study pioneers new data linking methods, creates new data for public use, and uses these data to document changes in intergenerational mobility and health over the 20th century, the long-run effects of early childhood interventions, and the impacts of public policies.
The post-doctoral scholar will help expand data linkages to new data sources, and carry out econometric analyses of linked data independently and as part of a team. The position also includes management of staff programmers and research assistants supporting these activities.
Requirements for the position are a Ph.D. in Economics, Public Policy, or a closely-related field, experience in data linking and applied econometric methods, familiarity with relevant software and programming tools (Python, R and Stata), and strong programming and writing skills.
The University of Michigan is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
