The Department of Economics at Deakin University is made up of 33 full-time academics and five professorial fellows and is generally ranked in the top 150-200 in the world according to well-known global rankings. We have particular strengths in Economic Theory, Applied Economics, and Econometrics, and our research has recently been rated “above the world standard” by the Australian Federal Government. The department offers a PhD program with a significant coursework component, organizes several workshops and conferences every year, and enjoys a vibrant and stimulating research environment.
An exciting opportunity now exists for a junior academic to join the department as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) In Economics, where, as the successful candidate you will undertake outstanding research, deliver excellent teaching, and provide supervision to PhD students. The department offers an attractive teaching load.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong research background in economic development. The candidate is expected to have an established track record (or demonstrated potential) of publications in major international journals. Candidates having been part of projects or networks that carried out research based on randomized controlled trials are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates with research into economic policies related to climate change, agriculture, environment, education, and politics can also apply.
This is a full-time, continuing position based in Melbourne, which is the cultural capital of Australia and is world renowned for its relaxed atmosphere, world class events and festivities, fantastic food and coffee, parks and sports clubs, as well as its close proximity to beautiful landscapes and countryside.
Appropriate relocation and/or immigration support will be offered to interstate/international candidates.
