The Applied Behavioral Science(ABS) team at Sam’s Club/ Walmart is looking for an economist intern. We are an interdisciplinary team of behavioral scientists, data scientist, and economists who collaborate to solve some of the most impactful and difficult business problems.

Responsibilities:
Apply and develop appropriate economic and econometric method to answer business problems;
Run field experiments to validate economic models;
Identify and consolidate insight from economic research to help improve produce and business processes;
Work with other scientists and business partners to assess collaboration opportunities and potential business impact;

Minimum qualifications:
Ph.D. candidate in Economics, Finance, Quantitative Marketing, or other closely related field;
Expertise in at least one of the following fields: econometrics, especially on causal inference, randomized experiments, program evaluation, and forecasting; economic modeling, especially on the economics of membership, pricing strategies, and information presentation;
Familiarity with at least one of the following: R, Python, Stata, or Matlab;
Experience in explaining economic models and incorporating feedback into modeling;

Preferable Qualifications:
Experience working with large-scale database systems (e.g. Hive, Teradata, DB2);
Feeling comfortable modeling and solving ambiguous problems;
Sound business judgement with attention to both big picture and details;
Politically savvy to navigate through a complex corporate environment.
