Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Davis Endowment in American Business and Economic Enterprise invites applications for the K.W. Davis Endowed Professor of Economic Organizations and Innovation beginning September 2020. We seek a scholar whose research and teaching focuses on the role that private enterprise plays in organizing economic and social activity throughout the world. The applicant will teach courses in our interdisciplinary minor Formal Organizations and elective courses such as Business and Entrepreneurial History. Applicants should be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and have an established track record with scholarly research. A Ph.D. in economics, history, or related field is required.
The Davis Endowment is an independent program at the College entirely supported by a large, permanent endowment. The Endowment seeks to promote the understanding of markets and entrepreneurship through the provision of classes, internships, public lectures, and residencies by business executives and entrepreneurs. The professor must be a recognized scholar with a demonstrated history of scholarship within the interests of the Endowment. These include entrepreneurship and innovation, market economies, organizations, organizational behavior, economic institutions, and business and economic history.
This endowed professor will teach four courses per year, be appointed with the status of College Professor which provides great flexibility as well as prestige at Trinity, and have compensation at the top of Trinity’s range for full professors.
The position is five year recurring contracts and remaining at Trinity beyond the sixth year in this position does not grant tenure but contracts will be renewed upon good performance. That includes having the majority of students rate the professor as an effective teacher. A good sample of distinguished professors has worked within this track during long careers at Trinity.
In a cover letter applicants should carefully discuss areas of research and teaching interest. Applications should include curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, transcript, a writing sample, a teaching statement, and official summaries of teaching evaluations. Applications must be submitted by June 1, 2020 to receive full consideration.
Zoom interviews will be held June 5-10, 2020. Trinity College is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Contact Edward Peter Stringham, Search Committee Chair, at edward.stringham@trincoll.edu.
Special Instructions to Applicants
