The Office of Economics and Analytics, Federal Communications Commission (www.fcc.gov) anticipates openings for Economist positions (GS-12 to GS-15) beginning in 2021. These positions involve analysis of the telecommunications and electronic media industries, and development of policy recommendations. FCC economists provide analysis and recommendations that contribute to the rulemaking process, and evaluate market conditions and potential market failures, including ways to address them. The current salary range of GS-12 to GS-15 is $86,335 to $170,800. Starting salary will be based on educational achievements, work experience, and research accomplishments.
We seek candidates with expertise primarily in the fields of (1) industrial organization, (2) applied microeconomics/econometrics, or (3) microeconomic theory. Completion of a Ph.D. degree by the time of hiring is preferred. Experience with the telecommunications or media sectors or regulatory policy is desirable, but not necessary.
