Mathematica applies expertise at the intersection of data, methods, policy, and practice to improve well-being around the world. We collaborate closely with public- and private-sector partners to translate big questions into deep insights that improve programs, refine strategies, and enhance understanding using data science and analytics. Our work yields actionable information to guide decisions in wide-ranging policy areas.
Mathematica is seeking economists to conduct public policy research and analysis in the areas of health and health care, disability, health information technology, and data science.

Health Economists collaborate with senior staff to design rigorous methods for evaluating programs and policies, conduct analyses, draft reports, present findings to policy and professional audiences, and publish in professional journals. A qualified researcher should have strong analytic and quantitative skills and possess a Ph.D. in economics or a related social science field by fall 2021. They should also have a strong interest in working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that emphasizes quality, rigor, critical thinking, objectivity, and professional development. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Experience in policy research is a plus.

Mathematica has offices in the following cities and states, although we are all currently working from home and provide the support and flexibility for all staff to work from home: Princeton, NJ; Washington, DC; Cambridge, MA; Ann Arbor, MI; Oakland, CA; Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA; and Woodlawn, MD. Mathematica offers our employees competitive salaries, and a comprehensive benefits package, as well as the advantages of being 100 percent employee owned. As an employee stock owner, you will experience financial benefits of ESOP holdings that have increased in tandem with the company’s growth and financial strength. You will also be part of an independent, employee-owned firm that is able to define and further our mission, enhance our quality and accountability, and steadily grow our financial strength. We encourage and provide support for staff to engage in professional activities such as journal publications and conference participation. For additional information, please visit our website: www.mathematica.org.
