IMPAQ’s Health Division works to increase the quality and value of U.S. healthcare. We collaborate with clients to design, implement, evaluate and refine health delivery policies, programs and systems. IMPAQ is seeking full-time Research Economists to conduct policy-related research and evaluation studies in the areas of domestic health, including such topic areas as health care reimbursement, value-based purchasing, quality measurement, pharmacoeconomics, long-term care, and patient reported outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Researching and supporting innovative delivery and financing approaches intended to improve quality of care, patient satisfaction, and health care efficiency;
Develop, test and validate quality measures;
Collecting and analyzing large data sets;
Performing policy implementation, analysis and evaluation;
Apply advanced analytic techniques, including machine learning and text analytics, to large scale data sets;
Writing technical reports and proposals;
Making presentations to government clients; and
Supervising and mentoring junior research staff.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. (or other advanced degree) in economics, public policy, or a related social science field;
Knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system, including Medicare and Medicaid policies and payment systems;
Strong quantitative and qualitative skills;
Experience manipulating and analyzing data using statistical software such as SAS (preferred), Stata or R;
Experience conducting mixed-methods evaluation;
Experience and knowledge of experimental and quasi-experimental design;
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical material orally and in writing to non-academic audiences;
Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interest in working in a collaborative environment;
Previous internship or work experience conducting applied policy research for federal or state agencies, although not required, will be heavily weighted; and
Must be available to start employment by May/June, 2021.
