The Department of Agricultural Economics is seeking an academic-year tenure-track faculty member to develop a nationally-recognized program of scholarly research and teaching in quantitative methods.
The successful applicant will contribute to the development and application of frontier tools in quantitative methods used across the Department’s areas of strength, including applied economics, finance, marketing, international trade and development, industrial organization, environment and natural resources.
Teaching responsibilities for the position include core PhD training and the opportunity to develop course(s) in quantitative techniques of value to graduate students including simulation, mathematical programming, machine learning, and decision analysis. The successful candidate is expected to conduct scholarly research employing frontier quantitative methods, publish in high-impact peer reviewed journals, mentor graduate students, and secure external funding to support their research program.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to conduct research in collaboration with five dynamic centers housed in the Department, working in the areas of agribusiness, commercial agriculture, international trade, and rural development. Collaborations with these centers, as well as the University- wide, interdisciplinary centers of excellence in Discovery Park offer important opportunities for funding, impact, and engagement.
Required Qualifications:
1. PhD in Agricultural and Applied Economics, Operations Research, Economics, or another closely related field;
2. Potential for scholarly excellence in frontier quantitative methods;
3. Commitment to teaching excellence;
4. High potential for securing extramural funding;
5. Capacity to teach and mentor students to advance the mission of the Department of Agricultural Economics and College of Agriculture.
