Faculty of Economics at the University of Tokyo (www.e.u-tokyo.ac.jp) invite application for a tenure-track assistant professor position at the intersection of economics and computer science.
The successful candidate will conduct research, participate in launching and developing the ECON+CS program, the undergraduate joint program between Faculty of Economics and School of Information Science and Technology at the University of Tokyo, and teach in the program. The appointment can start either in September 2021 or April 2022. The appointment is for 3 years with a renewal for another 4 years before the tenure review.
Candidates who would like to go through the AEA meeting interview process are required to submit their applications by December 20, 2020. The formal deadline for application is February 28, 2021.
Japanese language is not required for the position although preference is given to candidates with fluency in Japanese to engage in teaching for and launching the ECON+CS program. Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in economics, computer science, or other related disciplines at the time of their appointment.
