Applications are invited for Assistant or Associate Professor in Economics in the School of Economic Sciences (SES) with a primary field in Applied Econometrics. This 9-month, permanent, full-time tenure-track faculty position begins August 16, 2021, or as negotiated, in Pullman, Washington.
Responsibilities include publication of high-quality peer-reviewed research in applied econometrics as broadly defined, including applications in secondary field interests that complement existing faculty. Responsibilities include teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels on topics in applied and theoretical econometrics and related fields, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and participation as appropriate in committees and other service activities in SES and WSU. The successful candidate will develop internationally recognized economics research programs in the area of Applied Econometrics. The successful candidate will cooperate with internal and external research colleagues to conduct collaborative projects, seek grant opportunities and publish in peer-reviewed academic journals.
Required: Earned PhD in economics or closely related field by the date of hire and specialization in Applied Econometrics. Preferred: Evidence of strong training in econometric theory and demonstrated ability to apply econometrics in economic problem settings. Demonstrated expertise in the econometric analysis of big data and the application of machine learning in quantitative economic analysis; evidence of excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; demonstrated ability to develop and implement a nationally recognized research program leading to scholarly publications in the theory and application of empirical econometrics, and/or application of econometrics to other fields of economics; demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues, including collaborative research in applied and empirical econometrics or related fields; demonstrated ability to work with a variety of audiences, including persons of diverse cultures and backgrounds; demonstrated ability to obtain competitive extramural funding commensurate with career stage; and demonstrated ability to teach effectively at graduate and undergraduate levels.
