Responsibilities

The Semel Institute for Neuroscience & Human Behavior is seeking to hire a full-time Senior Statistician-Economist to join the UCLA Integrated Substance Abuse Programs (ISAP). You will perform complex professional statistical work.

Primary duties include:

Adaptation of mathematical/statistical models for novel analyses of data
Independent consultation with principal investigators
Plan statistical analysis for research projects with complex designs
Decide appropriate statistical analyses
Write programming code as necessary to conduct analyses

Qualifications

Doctorate in economics or a closely related field (Preferred)
At least four years of professional statistical experience or an equivalent combination of education & experience. (Required)
Experience conducing economic research, including cost-effectiveness or cost-benefit analyses. (Required)
Experience in health, mental health, or substance use-related research. (Required)
Experience analyzing data from Medicaid data, Electronic Health Records, or data from other government systems (e.g. criminal justice) (Preferred)
Demonstrated ability to write journal-quality manuscripts. (Required) Please attach any relevant job papers or other writing samples to the application
Excellent verbal communication skills & an ability to present findings before an audience. (Required)
Demonstrated ability to conduct statistical analyses using STATA, SAS, or similar statistical software packages. (Required)
