The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) seeks an Economics Communications Assistant to support its program of research dissemination in digital and print media.

The successful applicant should be able to understand the results of economic studies, as creation of graphics based on these results is a major part of the job. The NBER will provide training in the software needed to make the graphics; applicants must show a serious interest in and understanding of economics, as demonstrated by academic record and/or personal experience. Interest and/or study in communications would be a plus. The applicant should also be capable at copyediting and proofreading.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree. Experience with website tracking tools and statistical analysis software such as STATA would be helpful. So would strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and capacity to work on team projects.

The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal communication skills, be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, be able to meet deadlines and balance competing priorities, be detail-oriented, flexible and precise, and be prepared to tackle new responsibilities with opportunities for career advancement.

The successful candidate must complete a background check prior to beginning work at the NBER.
