Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Technology & Policy Research Initiative (TPRI) at Boston University School of Law is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to conduct empirical economics research with Timothy Simcoe, James Bessen, and other TPRI principals. The position involves collaborating on a study using detailed microdata to explore patent prosecution and enforcement strategies in the pharmaceutical sector, as well as other projects researching the effect of technology on society as a whole. The position also affords the candidate the opportunity to do research on projects of his or her own choosing. The postdoctoral researcher will have opportunities to engage in all aspects of the research, including exchanging ideas and comments about work in progress, presenting papers at conferences, and interacting with innovation and technology scholars in law and economics at BU and other Boston area universities. The position requires strong communication skills, an interest in the economics of technology, excellent data management and advanced statistical skills (Stata), strong programming ability, and good teamwork capabilities. The position is full time for one or two years. Salary is competitive and comes with a full benefits package as an employee of Boston University.
