Two Year Postdoctoral Position

Mentor: Dr. Bisakha Sen

The Department of Health Care Organization & Policy (https://www.uab.edu/soph/home/departments/hcop) has multiple on-going projects with Alabama Medicaid and Alabama Children’s Health Insurance Programs, and several ancillary projects funded by NIH that leverage these data. A 2-year postdoctoral position is available immediately for individuals with an interest in quantitative and mixed methods research, who will develop their own research within the goals of these projects, and assist with on-going analyses and manuscript preparation. HCOP offers a strong, supportive research environment, with an excellent track record of mentorship.

Qualifications:
1. A doctoral level degree in health policy, health economics, health services research or a related field.
2. Strong quantitative analysis skills and familiarity with STATA or SAS.
3. Interest in developing a research agenda that focuses on health equity, health disparities, and the impact of policy and programmatic changes on vulnerable populations.
4. The ideal applicant should be curiosity driven, capable of working independently, and taking the lead role in manuscript preparation.
5. Experience with electronic health records data and claims data is an added strength.
6. Candidates may be asked to teach undergraduate and masters classes in health policy and health economics.
