Environmental Defense Fund is seeking a Senior Labor Economist to lead, oversee and conduct rigorous economic and technical analyses related to a range of federal climate and energy policy proposals.
The Economist will:
- produce quantitative research on the employment and other wellbeing implications of a transition to clean energy and movement toward net zero emissions across all emitting sectors;
- provide thought leadership on effective policies and actions for a just transition to net zero emissions;
- develop and deploy analytical tools designed to inform external stakeholders and EDF thinking on policy design;
- write papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and external communications for general audiences on the employment and wellbeing implications of climate transition;
- present results and represent EDF at meetings with policy makers, academic conferences and workshops, and gatherings of advocacy organizations and the general public; and
- maintain and build ties to the academic/research communities, through outreach, presentations at workshops and conferences, informal contacts, etc.
We are looking to hire immediately for a permanent position, but also welcome applications from senior individuals seeking short term (e.g., sabbatical) hires.
