Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Department of Economics has an opening for a full time, non-tenure track faculty. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal pending performance review and university funding.
DePaul University is the largest Catholic university in the nation. The Economics Department offers undergraduate degrees in the College of Liberal Arts as well as the Driehaus School of Business. The department’s graduate programs include a quantitative Master of Science in Economics, and MBA concentrations in Applied Economics, Healthcare Markets and Analytics, and Business Strategy & Decision-Making.
The department will consider candidates where responsibilities include teaching nine (quarter) classes per academic year (face-to-face and online modality) for both undergraduate and graduates students, holding office hours, and participating in general department activities.
The department will also consider candidates who will take a more active role in developing and growing our academic programs. In this capacity, administrative responsibilities can substitute for a portion of the teaching load. These administrative responsibilities would include:
Bridging the gap between industry and academics through building networks with industry professionals and organizations. DePaul’s vast alumni network and market position can be leveraged to create events, student internships, or networking opportunities.
Developing models for corporate outreach to expand curricular offerings. In participation with departmental and college leadership, the faculty member will present to corporate audiences our economic programs, as well as be involved in the college’s Corporate Education Opportunities programs.
Continuing to develop and innovate certificate programs offered by the Economics Department. The faculty member will provide input on curriculum and new course development to ensure the delivery of quality programs.
A PhD is preferred, but candidates with a Master’s degree and significant industry experience will also be considered.
Fields include Applied Microeconomics, Data Analytics, Industrial Organization, and Econometrics. Managerial experience in the health industry a plus.
