Post-Doctoral Fellow, Department of Global Health and Population
The Post-Doctoral Fellow’s work entail:
(a) support for evaluation of Service Delivery Redesign for Maternal and Child Health (SDR) in Kenya (40%);
(b) research support for Quality Evidence for Health System Transformation (QuEST) Network (40%);
(c) 20% time for self-directed research.
Timeline: Start fall 2021; extendable until 2024
Kakamega County, Kenya is piloting a policy to address quality gaps in maternal and newborn care called “Service Delivery Redesign for Maternal Health.” A team led by Prof. Kevin Croke will leverage the phased rollout of the reform to assess the effect on health outcomes. The QuEST Network, led by Prof. Margaret Kruk, works with governments to design and test health system reforms.
Responsibilities:
• SDR evaluation:
o Developing survey tools and research protocols
o Supporting implementation of household and facility surveys
o Analyzing data and collaborating on papers
• QuEST Network:
o Support implementation and analysis of People’s Voice and E-cohort surveys
o Analyzing data and collaborating on papers
o Support equitable research collaborations with country partners
Skills/Experience:
• PhD in economics, public health, epidemiology, or related fields
• Experience with health policy in developing countries
• Experience with survey implementation
