Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Population Wellbeing Initiative is a network of researchers at the University of Texas at Austin who conduct foundational research in economics, demography, and evaluation for long-term social welfare. Applicants should welcome the challenge of building this field, in collaboration with our team. Research Scientists will be hosted by the UT-Austin Population Research Center and Economics Department.
The Research Scientist will collaborate with our team to produce outstanding population wellbeing research. The Research Scientist will report to Dr. Dean Spears and Dr. Mike Geruso and will be expected to collaborate with the entire research team. Although the Research Scientist will have time to pursue independent, allied research projects, the Research Scientist should expect to collaborate as a coauthor of Population Wellbeing Initiative research (including studies led by the Research Scientist) and to contribute to coordinating program activities.
Areas include: fertility; long-term population growth; long-term social discounting; social welfare; population ethics; public economics and evaluation; long-term depopulation; social policy of care work and parenting; endogenous growth; policy in low-fertility populations.
Required: PhD in demography, economics, or related ; expertise in a program area; excellent English for scholarly writing
