The Economics Department of California State University, Fresno invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor, expected to start in Fall 2022. The Department is committed to economic pluralism and welcomes applicants from all economic perspectives to join a community of diverse students and faculty that supports economic development in Central California and beyond. Student learning outcomes assessment and service learning are important components of the university curriculum. The successful candidates will be expected to work cooperatively with faculty and staff in the department and school. Candidates are expected to have teaching and research interests in Stratification Economics or closely related fields, with a primary focus on intergroup inequality, which may include but is not limited to interest in racial, ethnic, and gender stratification, social group hierarchy, and policy analysis. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Although not required, preferred related areas could include economic history, labor economics, public economics, gender in the economy, applied econometrics, and other relevant sub-fields. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is also preferred. Faculty responsibilities include teaching upper-division undergraduate as well as principles of economics courses, research and publication, advising students, and service at all university levels. An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Economics or a closely related discipline is required. Applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) in Economics, or a closely related discipline will also be considered. The doctorate must be completed by August 1, 2022.
