Description
The Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics at the University of Chicago invites applications for an Assistant Instructional Professor position. This is a two-year, full-time, career-track teaching position with a start date of September 1, 2022. The initial two-year appointment is renewable with opportunity for promotion. The candidate will teach five courses in the undergraduate curriculum, primarily for students in the business economics track. In addition to teaching, the candidate will advise and mentor undergraduate students, organize student activities, advise and mentor MA students, contribute to recruitment and admissions of MA students and oversee and plan the core curriculum under the direction of the Director of Undergraduate Studies. The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Service Employees Union (SEIU) and the University.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Economics and a record of teaching courses in applied economics, particularly pertaining to business applications. Successful applicants will have a record of teaching excellence in principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics and field courses such as managerial economics, labor economics, industrial organization, law and economics, money and banking, international trade, public finance, among others. In addition, industry experience is preferred.
