A Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field is required by August 15th 2022; ABD is acceptable for selection. The candidate will teach and develop courses in the Economics major, including Intermediate Macroeconomics and additional courses for our Macroeconomics curriculum. The standard teaching load at Lawrence is two courses in each of three ten-week terms, with other regular duties that include leading occasional tutorials and supervising independent study projects; grading, advising, and mentoring students; assisting in curricular planning; and related departmental and institutional service. In addition, tenured and tenure-track faculty are expected to make regular teaching contributions (currently defined as one section every two to three years) to the university’s First-Year Studies program, an interdisciplinary introduction to the liberal arts intended to help new students develop their skills in reading, writing, and critical thinking. Lawrence University faculty are expected to demonstrate excellent teaching and research, the ability and desire to advise undergraduate research projects, and to connect scholarship with teaching.
We welcome applications from individuals who will help us create a more inclusive Lawrence by: (1) further diversifying the faculty; and/or (2) demonstrating experience with successful diversity-related initiatives, creative activity or research; and (3) demonstrating interest in developing inclusive pedagogy to address the needs of a diverse student body, particularly as these pedagogies relate to antiracism. Candidates should address in their statement on diversity and inclusion how they can contribute to these goals.
Applications must include a cover letter, CV, a teaching philosophy statement that also directly addresses the candidate’s approach to teaching macroeconomics, evidence of teaching ability, research statement, sample of research, statement on diversity and inclusion, and graduate school transcript.
