The Applied Economics Office (AEO) of the National Institute of Standards of Technology (NIST) anticipates the need for an economist.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: research; publishing within refereed journals and technical research series; developing draft standards; crafting decision-support software; communicating research at professional conferences. We desire an applicant with a strong background in econometrics and statistics and at least two of the following areas—microeconomics, decision -science, regional modeling, life-cycle assessment, investment analysis, input-output analysis, supply-chain analysis, and survey methods. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills are critical.
The AEO (https://www.nist.gov/el/applied-economics-office), a part of the Engineering Laboratory at NIST, provides information to decision makers who require advancements in measurement science in the areas of sustainability, energy conservation, community disaster resilience, structure and wildland fire, and manufacturing. AEO’s research is interdisciplinary and collaborative across the federal government. The AEO delivers high quality research and tool development that advises and assists partners in their decision-making processes.
