Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Department of Economics at Union College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Macroeconomics, beginning September 1, 2022. Hiring is conditional on budget capacity. We have some preference for a macroeconomist with expertise in either open-economy macroeconomics or financial economics. Applications from candidates in other fields of macroeconomics will also be considered, particularly when their work could contribute to Union's broad array of interdisciplinary programs. The successful candidate will have an active research agenda in macroeconomics and be expected to teach Intermediate Macroeconomics and elective courses.

Union College is a highly selective liberal arts college located in the Capital Region of the State of New York and offers highly competitive salary and benefits. The successful applicant should have a Ph.D. by September 1, 2022, an established record of teaching excellence and a strong research program. Our annual teaching load is six courses over three ten-week terms, which typically consists of four classroom courses and the supervision of eight senior theses. Tenure track hires have a one course load reduction in their first year and receive additional research support. We are open to hiring at the advanced assistant professor level with an accelerated tenure clock.

Union College is an equal opportunity employer and strongly committed to student and workforce diversity. Union provides a blend of intellectual, social and cultural opportunities to facilitate the integrated academic, social and personal development of a diverse community. We value and are committed to a host of diverse populations and cultures including, but not limited to, those based on race, religion, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, national origin and veteran status.

Union College recognizes the rich possibilities of interdisciplinary studies by offering many opportunities for both faculty and students to engage with multiple disciplines - and each other - in collaborative classroom settings, innovative majors, and unique research initiatives. Applications from candidates who can offer courses that contribute to our interdisciplinary programs or General Education curriculum are particularly welcome.

Required application materials: cover letter, CV, job market paper, teaching evaluations (or other evidence of teaching effectiveness), three letters of reference. Applicants are asked to describe in their cover letter how their research, teaching and service could support the college’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Applicants are also invited to address their overall fit for the position, including their areas of expertise, undergraduate thesis advising and potential contributions to interdisciplinary studies at the College.

To guarantee consideration, applications must be complete by December 5, 2021. We will be conducting interviews remotely in early January, 2022. For more information about the Department, please visit https://www.union.edu/economics.
