The Department of Economics at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is seeking an ambitious, bright, and creative scholar with interest and expertise in applied microeconomics for a tenure-track faculty position.
We are a collegial, focused, and ambitious department. The department is housed within UAA’s College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP) located in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest metropolitan community. Accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the College has an impressive faculty who bring a wide range of academic and industry expertise to students and community partners. The Economics Department hosts the Vernon Smith Economic Science Laboratory and an internationally-recognized experimental economics research program. Faculty also have interest and expertise in the areas of behavioral, environmental, natural resource, regional, public, and development economics.
The Anchorage Metropolitan Statistical Area has a population of roughly 400,000 people and is conveniently located minutes from a host of world-class outdoor amenities including ski resorts, world-renowned fisheries, kayaking opportunities, and hundreds of miles of hiking trails. UAA is an open enrollment campus which means we serve a diverse set of students in terms of age, life experiences, socioeconomic status and educational backgrounds. Preference will be given to candidates with strong training in applied microeconomics and interest in policy-relevant research. Responsibilities include 1) engaging in high quality research, 2) working collaboratively with existing faculty, 3) teaching within the department, 4) service, and 5) mentoring students.
