The Economics Department (Instituto de Economía, IE) and the Institute for Sustainable Development (IDS) at Pontificia Universidad Católica (PUC) de Chile invite applications for a full-time joint position as either Assistant or Associate Professor. The position is in Environmental Economics or Sustainable Development and starts in August 2022.
The appointment requires the selected candidate to have half of their working day in each of the two units, both in their teaching, research, and service work. The chosen candidate should maintain a balance regarding their contribution to both units.
The IE is one of the leading research institutions in Latin America with strong under and postgraduate programs. The IDS is an interdisciplinary academic unit that seeks to cross-section the issues of sustainability and sustainable development in collaboration with organizations outside the University.

- A teaching load of 3 courses per year. Teaching can be done in English for two years. Then, it is expected that the candidate should be able to teach in Spanish.

The ideal candidate should have:
- A Ph.D. in Economics or equivalent by the beginning of the appointment.
- A demonstrated capacity to develop and communicate high-quality research and a good record of publications (for candidates applying to Associate Professor).
- Commitment to excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as student supervision and support.
- Capacity and willingness to work collaboratively and engage in activities that show good citizenship.

If a non-Chilean citizen, the successful candidate will need to obtain the appropriate visa from the corresponding Chilean consulate to become a faculty member.
