Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Center on Global Energy Policy (CGEP) at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) invites applications for an early-career Economist "Staff Associate II" (Bachelor’s degree in specific research field and 4 years experience) interested in conducting cutting-edge research on issues related to energy and environmental policy. PhD preferred.
Ideal candidates will have strong applied microeconomic skills, including evidence of expertise in econometric modeling and/or applied theory modeling. Additionally, we seek individuals who are interested in both producing high-quality outputs suitable for publication in reputable academic journals and, importantly, engaging with energy-sector stakeholders and policy-makers in an effort to implement solutions to a wide range of energy and environment challenges throughout the world.
The Center on Global Energy Policy is a research center that aims to produce best-in-class academic research on energy and environmental policy issues that is also delivered in formats and on timeframes that are accessible and useful outside of academia. CGEP provides independent, balanced, data-driven analysis to help decision makers (e.g., in policy, finance, industry, etc.) navigate the complex world of energy. The center currently has a staff of approximately 60 and is in the midst of a multi-year expansion effort to strengthen and broaden its quantitative research group.
Researchers at CGEP include many who have held high-ranking posts in the public and private sector as well as within academia. CGEP is a part of the School of International and Public Affairs and is affiliated with Columbia’s recently launched Climate School. Scholars are also encouraged to collaborate with Columbia’s world-class faculty and researchers within CGEP and at Columbia’s Global Centers.
