Landcare Research New Zealand is one of seven Crown Research Institutes in New Zealand. Our purposes are to drive innovation in managing terrestrial biodiversity and land resources, protect the terrestrial environment, and grow New Zealand’s prosperity.

We are recruiting an Economic Modeller with strong interests in land use, natural resources, and public policy. Example research areas include: environmental policy in areas such as climate, water, and biodiversity, including economic and non-economic behavioural traits. Expertise in integrated modelling approaches are strongly desired.

Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field and demonstrate interest in multidisciplinary collaboration, undertaking policy-relevant research, and developing new research areas in partnership with end users and stakeholders. The position requires 4+ years of post-PhD experience alongside strong modelling skills and experience (GAMS knowledge desirable). The position requires excellent communication skills for specialised and non-expert audiences and publishing research results in peer-reviewed journals.

The successful candidate will join a team working in environmental/agricultural economics and related fields. The position is based in Auckland.
