Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Population Wellbeing Initiative is a network of researchers at the University of Texas at Austin who conduct foundational research in economics, demography, and evaluation of long-term social welfare. Scholars will be hosted by the UT-Austin Population Research Center and Economics Department.
The Postdoctoral Scholar position is self-directed but the Scholar will concentrate a portion of their intellectual energies and independent work on program-related research areas. Examples of program areas include: long-term population growth/decline; fertility decisions; social policy of care work and parenting; growth theory and aggregate scale effects; long-term social discounting; use of social welfare functions or population ethics in public economics and evaluation. Although scholars are free to choose their projects, collaboration is encouraged.
Required: PhD in economics, demography, or related field
Preferred: The ideal candidate will pair this fellowship with a tenure-track position, either by deferring the start date for that position for one to two academic years, or by taking an early-career leave from their home institution.
