CNA is a not-for-profit research and analysis corporation running two major business units, CNA, the Department of the Navy’s Federally Funded R&D Center (FFRDC), and the Institute for Public Research, which provides analytic support to non-DOD government sponsors.
About the Position
CNA is currently seeking a Senior Research Scientist for our Navy Human Resources (NHR) Research Program in CNA’s Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC). Candidates will join a strong team who analyze the effects of Navy manpower and personnel policies and programs. This research and analysis may involve modeling and simulation of recruiting, training, personnel development, and retention policies and programs for managing the US Navy military and civilian workforces. The research and analysis conducted will involve aligning recommendations to the desired outcomes for manpower and personnel policies (e.g., achieving certain manning levels effectively and efficiently, obtaining particular levels of recruiting and retention by skillsets, etc.). It may also involve evaluating concepts and manpower and personnel programs and working with subject matter experts and stakeholders. Candidates may also work on military and civilian workforce issues for the US Marine Corps, the Department of the Army, the Department of the Air Force, and the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness.
Job Requirements
Education: Minimum Master’s degree in economics, operations research, industrial/organizational psychology, and applied statistics or a relevant field, PhD preferred.
Experience: Typical minimum requirements 10+ years of experience in research and analysis.
Skills: The candidate must be able to apply advanced principles, theories, concepts, and quantitative techniques to solve complex problems facing service manpower and personnel. The candidate must be able to interact, communicate, and advise at senior levels in both client organizations and the parent corporation. Excellent communications skills, both oral and written are essential.
Other: Ability to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Security Clearance.
