Assistant Professor of – Finance and Globalization – Department of Global Studies

The Department of Global Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. Anticipated start date, July 1, 2023. The Department is looking for individuals with expertise in Finance in relation to Globalization.

Applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) in Political Economy or a closely related field except the dissertation at the time of application, with PhD conferred by the anticipated appointment start date. Candidates will have expertise in the economics and politics of finance as it operates on a global scale. They will study the globalization of finance and how finance has shaped globalization. They will teach undergraduate and graduate students about how current and historical financial arrangements work in different settings, and how they shape interactions between the public and private spheres, as well as between local, national, and global actors. Capacity to guide graduate research involving multiple forms of quantitative data and analysis and to mentor across disciplinary lines a must.
