The Hamline School of Business in Saint Paul, Minnesota, seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in business analytics with a secondary field in economics, information systems, marketing or related fields. Hamline is the oldest university in the state of Minnesota and has more than 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The business school houses undergraduate and graduate programs in business, economics, and public administration. The school is dedicated to preparing students to work across sectors to solve the complex issues facing today’s society. The university consists of the School of Business, College of Liberal Arts, and School of Education and Leadership.
Teaching responsibilities include six courses per year, primarily in the area of business analytics. Courses in this area might include: undergraduate Introduction to Business Analytics, Data Mining, Data Management and Communication, Advanced Business Analytics, graduate Data Analytics and Decision Making, Databases and Data Management, Machine Learning (I and II) and other courses as needed. We are seeking candidates that have prior teaching experience in the course content areas specified or a strong willingness to develop expertise in these areas. Courses taught may address general curriculum requirements that fulfill the Hamline Plan and faculty members are responsible for periodically offering a First Year Seminar to incoming students. Evidence of excellence in teaching is essential. A completed Ph.D. or D.B.A. or ABD in one of the following fields: Economics, Decision Sciences, or Marketing with a strong emphasis on data analytics. ABD candidates will be considered with anticipated completion within the first year of appointment. Candidates must have demonstrable competencies in teaching. Candidates must be committed to the development of skills necessary for advising and mentoring students from culturally diverse backgrounds, and to the promotion and enhancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion in support of academic excellence. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of scholarly publications and a demonstrated commitment to an active research agenda.
