The J.P. Morgan U.S. Economic Research team seeks an economist to join us in covering domestic economic developments from our New York City headquarters. As an Economist within the Research team, you will conduct research aimed at understanding macroeconomic developments and improving our forecasts of growth, inflation, labor markets, and central bank policy. The audience for our research includes our business partners inside J.P. Morgan, our clients around the world, policymakers, and the media.

Job responsibilities:

-Analyze and report on the monthly and quarterly economic data flow
-Contribute to our weekly summary of economic developments
-Produce thematic economic research
-Meet regularly with key partners within J.P. Morgan as well their clients

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

-A degree in economics, with significant training in math and statistics
-At least two years of professional experience working with US economic data
-Knowledge of econometric software such as Eviews and Matlab
-Programming experience, preferably in Python
-Demonstrated writing skills summarizing technical findings for a broad audience

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

-A post-graduate degree in economics is strongly preferred
-Prior work experience at a policymaking institution
-Experience with Haver Analytics and/or Bloomberg terminal
