Chief Economist, National Infrastructure Commission

The National Infrastructure Commission
provides the UK government with independent, expert advice on economic infrastructure strategy and policy, covering energy, transport, water and wastewater, waste, flood risk management and digital communications. We are central to the debate on how economic infrastructure can help decarbonise the economy, build resilience to climate change and support economic growth.

We are looking for an outstanding Chief Economist with strong leadership and analytical skills, who is comfortable working with senior stakeholders, and has a track record of putting analysis and evidence at the heart of policy-making in one or more of the infrastructure sectors covered by the Commission.

Reporting to the CEO, the post holder will oversee the NIC’s analytical work programme and lead a high performing team of economists and analysts. The post holder will provide intellectual leadership, ensuring the Commission’s work is grounded in sound economics and data, and developing rigorous and innovative approaches to framing questions and answering them.
