The Role
Reporting to Managing Director of Research, the research analyst will work closely with analysts on the Asset Allocation Research Team and other colleagues to support day-to-day research needs. You will play a role in developing and communicating key conclusions to the investment staff. The position is located at the company’s headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts.
The Value You Deliver
Through the application of fundamental economic and investment analytical tools, develop research insights across a wide variety of both macro and investment-related topics. This includes self-initiated independent work, as well as collaborative on team projects.
Contribute to AART’s analysis of global macroeconomic trends including timely business-cycle developments as well as longer-term themes. Be a critical thinker who can work with large databases, econometric modeling, and programming to extract and support meaningful conclusions.
Provide updates, both written and verbal, that communicate key economic and financial-market trends and their investment implications. This includes regular interaction with investment teams across Fidelity asset management and may also include thought-leadership activities for the distribution channels.
Translate analytical approaches into actionable asset allocation conclusions, with an emphasis on empirical economics and multi-disciplinary tools.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Proven understanding of economics and finance. Preferred Masters degree in Economics and/or 2-4 years of equivalent applied experience; CBE/CFA preferred
Strong fundamental understanding of economic data and experience in econometrics required
Deep understanding of business cycle dynamics, with experience in economic strategy, asset allocation, or business-cycle modeling preferred
Team player with excellent interpersonal and project management skills
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
Ability and confidence to work effectively in both independent and group settings
Familiarity with relevant tools including programming, econometrics, and other market and economic data programs
Strong intellectual curiosity and interest in global events, history, economics, and finance
Strong personal and professional integrity
