Assistant Professor

Department of Economics

Lafayette College | Easton, PA

The Economics Department at Lafayette College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Finance at the Assistant or advanced-Assistant Professor level beginning July 1, 2024. Applicants should be committed to excellence in both undergraduate teaching and scholarly research. We are particularly interested in candidates with teaching and research interests in financial modeling and/or Fintech. The addition of courses in these areas along with planned access to financial databases through WRDS will enhance our already robust financial analysis certificate curriculum. The teaching load for this position is 4 courses in the first year and 5 courses thereafter. The college provides a paid pre-tenure research leave, mentoring, and research support. Applicants should hold a PhD or a DBA in Economics/Finance or expect to complete all requirements by August 15, 2024.

Lafayette College is a highly selective, private undergraduate-only liberal arts college with 2,700 students located within 70 miles of New York City and Philadelphia. The Economics Department is comprised of 18 faculty members who are not only dedicated to teaching excellence, but are also accomplished and engaged scholars in their fields. The College is deeply committed to creating a diverse community: one that is inclusive and responsive, and is supportive of each and all of its faculty, students, and staff. All members of the College community share in the responsibility for creating, maintaining, and developing a learning environment in which difference is valued, equity is sought, and inclusiveness is practiced. All Lafayette operations reflect the College’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, Access, and Inclusion (DEAI) initiatives, and Lafayette welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, a statement of teaching philosophy and interests, a statement of research interests, a curriculum vitae, and three letters of reference through Interfolio at http://apply.interfolio.com/128686. Candidates should also submit a diversity statement that addresses how the applicant’s teaching, research, and/or service will support Lafayette’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, as articulated in the College’s diversity statement (http://www.lafayette.edu/about/diversity-statement). The committee will begin reviewing applications on September 15, 2023, will conduct first-round interviews remotely, and will continue searching until the position is filled.

Questions about the position should be directed to Prof. David Stifel, Search Committee Chair, at stifeld@lafayette.edu. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
