Position Description
The Department of Economics in the Georgetown University College of Arts & Sciences seeks an eminent scholar to fill the Edmond D. Villani Chair in Economics. The holder of the Villani Chair is expected to provide leadership for and have a transformational impact on the department in terms of research, teaching, and service.

Hiring will be at the rank of Full Professor. The position is to begin in August 2024. We welcome candidates from any field.

Qualifications:

The holder of the Villani Chair is expected to possess the following qualifications:

National and International Eminence: A distinguished reputation in their field, both nationally and internationally, preferably extending beyond academia.

Outstanding Research Output: A well-established record of exceptional research achievements, showcasing consistent productivity and the creation of high-quality, impactful research.

Forward-Looking Research Agenda: An articulated research agenda that matches the caliber of their previous research accomplishments, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing innovation and scholarly contributions.

Curricular Innovation: A proven ability to influence and enrich the department's curricular offerings, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, through innovative and relevant coursework and its delivery.

Dedication to Advising and Mentoring: A demonstrated commitment to mentoring and advising graduate students and junior faculty, with an emphasis on fostering the success of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Exemplary Service Record: An established record of service to previous institutions and the broader professional community.
