Assistant Professor

Salary is competitive with Departments at our peer institutions worldwide and not less than £61,446 per annum (pay award pending) and the salary scale can be found on the LSE website

The Department of Economic History is inviting applications for an entry-level career-track Assistant Professorship to further enhance its strengths in research and teaching.

Outstanding candidates with research interests in:
• Historical economic geography
• Urban economic history
• Economic history and geography
are invited to apply. Applicants may work on any historical time period or geographical area.

You must have an ability to establish an international reputation in one or more of these fields. You will have completed a PhD, or be close to obtaining a PhD, in Economic History or a related discipline by the post start date.
You will have a track record of, or trajectory towards, internationally excellent publications in top journals or with leading book publishers in Economic History. You will also have a clear, well-developed, and viable strategy for future research that has the potential to result in world-leading publications.
You should have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to place your specialist work within a broader social science context.
You must be committed to working as part of a team and have the ability to teach Economic History at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels and foster a positive learning environment.
