The Department of Economics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha invites applications for Instructor in the area of business analytics and data science. The College of Business Administration (CBA) offers high-demand data science programs at the graduate  and undergraduate levels with concentrations in Econometrics and Data Analytics as well as Business Analytics, respectively. This position will play a key role in expanding the programs through teaching and curriculum development activities. The position is initially a one-year contract (fall and spring semesters), renewable annually. Instructors typically teach four course sections per semester.  
  
A top candidate is expected to be a teaching specialist with a strong passion for teaching Business/Data Analytics courses. A deep understanding of data storage and programming techniques is expected and highly valued. However, the Department of Economics prefers a passionate instructor with fluency in some of the listed skills (and interest in future mastery of others) over one who has mastered all listed languages and software but is less enthusiastic about providing excellent instruction. Based on department needs and candidate preferences, she may teach courses on some of the following topics:  

Master’s and undergraduate level econometrics.  
Advanced econometric courses with some machine learning content.   
Business reporting (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Studio).   
SQL and database/data storage.   
Forecasting, quantitative/ statistical methods.  
Principles-level economics as needed.  
 
Required qualifications are 1) a completed master’s degree in economics (Ph.D. preferred, and ABD candidates will also be considered) or closely related field including, but not limited to, statistics, math, computer science, operations research, demography, political science or psychology, 2) data science expertise, and 3) the potential for excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching.
