The Department of Economics at the University of Chile is seeking faculty members at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants must hold a PhD in Economics or a closely related field by the beginning of the appointment and should demonstrate a potential for research as well as an aptitude for effective teaching at both levels.

Candidates with a specialization in macroeconomics will be given particular consideration. To apply, please submit your cover letter,curriculum vitae, one research paper, job market paper, and three recommendation letters.

Knowledge of Spanish language is not required, but we expect successful applicants to be able to teach in Spanish within a couple of years following the appointment.

Applications should be submitted through the JOE system.

We encourage early submissions, as we will begin interviews on a first-come, first-served basis. We will be conducting online interviews with selected candidates until January 2024.

For non-Chilean citizens, the successful candidate must secure the necessary visa from the Chilean consulate in their place of residence to join the faculty. The School of Economics and Business will provide support to selected candidates throughout this process.
