The Department of Economics at the National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for educator-track positions to fill undergraduate and graduate level teaching with candidates in all fields considered. The Educator Track aims to attract, nurture, and retain qualified and effective educators who approach teaching as a scholarly practice and who are passionate about excellence in teaching.

Responsibilities: Successful candidates will be expected to teach approximately four modules a year (two per semester) at the undergraduate and master’s level. The medium of instruction is English. Other responsibilities include supervision of honors theses and graduate dissertations as well as administrative service. The academic year is from August to May. Successful candidates should be able to start in August 2024.

Context and terms: The NUS Department of Economics has an established reputation as one of the foremost economics departments in Asia. We have researchers in all the major fields of economics. We also aim to contribute to public policy discussion in Singapore through research in applied fields and outreach activities. We offer attractive salary packages and an environment that supports scholarly research. Educator-track faculty at NUS are eligible to apply for external and internal grants to support disciplinary and/or pedagogical research and travel grants to present at international conferences.

Criteria for appointment: Educator Track colleagues, especially those holding higher-level appointments, are expected to demonstrate a scholarly, evidence-based approach to teaching and student learning, utilize a range of pedagogical approaches to encourage learning, and contribute to advancing pedagogical and/or disciplinary knowledge through relevant inquiry or educational leadership.

a) A Teaching Statement
b) Teaching evaluations and peer review reports, if available. Other evidence of teaching excellence and/or other contributions to education, e.g., curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, could be included.
4) A Research Statement, if applicable, highlighting how you plan to advance pedagogical and/or disciplinary knowledge through inquiry.
5) four letters of reference, including one from the main PhD advisor.
